Oasis is a weekly class for older adults emphasizing breath-centered yoga with modified postures to enhance greater well-being. Using the principles of yoga, this class is focused on increasing range of motion for joint mobility, appropriate balance poses for fall prevention, core strengthening and stress management. Yoga Gently at the Braille Institute is a group therapeutic class designed for those who are visually impaired. This is a breath-centered class designed to improve cognition and strengthen proprioception to help with orientation and mobility. In addition, Sonya incorporates postures and principles to build core strength, increase balance for proper gait, and deeply nourish the nervous system.
1:1 yoga therapy sessions with chronic pain patients referred by the VFC Clinic. Patients include underserved populations with previously unmanaged pain. Venice Family Clinic Chronic Pain Management Center has a complete integrative medical system including; yoga therapy, acupuncture, chiropractic, and osteopathic services.
